Grade Point Average versus Grade Point Median

It has come to my hypnotized, attention that GPA is a bad indicator of a student’s performance. Grade Point Average (GPA) is highly influenced by outlier grades versus Grade Point Median (GPM).
Example:
|
Course Number |
Student 1 Grades |
Student 2 Grades |
|
1 |
A |
B |
|
2 |
A |
B |
|
3 |
A |
B |
|
4 |
A |
B |
|
5 |
A |
B |
|
6 |
A |
B |
|
7 |
B |
A |
|
8 |
B |
A |
|
9 |
B |
A |
|
10 |
B |
A |
|
GPA |
3.67 |
3.33 |
|
GPM |
A = 4.0 |
B = 3.0 |
As the number of classes increase, the GPM will grow closer to the true student’s performance.
I sense an argument or house cleaning arising from this idea.
